Caption: In 1926, Drumlins Country Club was converted from a farm to the recreation center it is today. Now owned by Syracuse University, the club has been a hub of action for students and the local community for 100 years.
Growing up in the area, some of John Vieau’s fondest memories were gathering with friends and neighbors to ice skate at Drumlins in the winter or golf in the summer. Today, he still returns to the club to golf and spend days like he did as a teenager.
“For the guys my age, it’s our playground,” Vieau said. “As adults, we don’t have a lot of places to play. To be ourselves, to be like kids again.”

Caption: While Syracuse men’s and women’s basketball have both clinched spots in the ACC Tournament, their journeys to the top of the conference couldn’t be more different.
The men’s squad barely made the cut, and head coach Adrian Autry is on pace for his worst conference finish despite nabbing transfer guards Naithan George and Nate Kingz.
On the women’s side, the Orange clinched a first-round bye courtesy of three experienced NCAA Tournament players, freshman Uche Izoje and new associate head coach Natasha Adair.
The Daily Orange’s 2026 ACC Tournament Guide has everything to know ahead of the tourneys.

Notes: The Daily Orange often produces sports guides but struggled with redundancy when posting multiple stories from the same guide on social media. I pitched this post in order to include content from four different stories from the guide and promote the guide as a package, driving clicks to web, while including practical information like the tournament bracket.

The Dellas family, who has run Varsity since day one, values that Varsity has been reliably synonymous with SU. But with ownership set to transfer to SU in 2027, they’re also thinking about what comes next.
“It may not necessarily be the same family, but it’s tradition, and the way of doing business hopefully doesn’t change, and the Varsity lives on with the next owner,” co-owner Jerry Dellas said.
